THE MAN WHO KNEW INFINITY
BANNER: Warner Bros. (UK)
PRODUCER: Edward R. Pressman
DIRECTOR: Matthew Brown
CAST: Dev Patel, Jeremy Irons, Toby Jones, Stephen Fry etc.
STORY:The Man Who Knew Infinity is the true story of friendship that forever changed mathematics. Srinivasa Ramanujan, a self-taught Indian mathematics genius traveled to Trinity College, Cambridge, where he forged a bond with his mentor, the eccentric professor GH Hardy and fought tirelessly to show the world the genius of his mind.
CRITICAL ANALYSIS:The acting is superb with Jeremy Irons as a professor and mentor in one of his best performance ever. The film makes you feel the spirit of the place and the time (First World War England). Dev Patel is no longer the fun host of the Marigold Hotel but a great courageous young mathematician who beats old odds to become one of the major scientists of the 20th century. Though the film does not have great buzz among the audience, it may draw people to cinema halls in metropolitan cities.
At the box office, the film may do average business.
